This a great book if you work with victims of trauma and want to understand how different types of trauma can present and what interventions can be used (i.e urge surfing, cognitive restructuring, focus breathing, etc.). It also include a section about medications and what to address first in treatment. I think it’s great for new clinicians who may be looking for interventions to add to their clinical toolbox.

I read this book as a part of graduate studies. The text is very thick, but if you're a professional looking to crossover or a student, this will get the job done. Sage is one of the more well-rounded publishers, so I am a fan.

I've read many books on trauma and PTSD. This book is very comprehensive and promotes a relational therapeutic approach to trauma unlike the many approaches which seem to be technique focused. It is extremely informative about all aspects of trauma and PTSD. It definitely warrants five stars.

Very helpful in learning how to conceptualize and deal with PTSD. It would have been even more helpful to go in-depth about talking about certain populations of people who have dealt with traumas (vets, those who have been sexually abused, those who have been trafficked, etc.), but he touches on groups of people and that is helpful.
